Tools for tech teams

Tools for developers. Tools for managers. A team that keeps getting better.

Squad Reviews brings your tech team's tools together in one place: a live retrospective for every sprint, and a health check where the team rates its own health. Each company is kept separate: no one from another company sees what your team writes and how it votes.

A Squad Reviews retrospective board in the Discuss phase, with the columns What went well, What went wrong and What if, grouped cards, votes and an action item with an owner.

Your team's tools

Each tool is for one of the team's conversations. They all live in the same company, with one sign-in and the same people.

  • Retro

Every sprint's retrospective, live, from the first card to the action items.

    • Cards, groups and votes with a limit, on one board.
    • Phases, a timer and anonymous mode, run by the facilitator.
    • Action items with an owner, and each squad's history.
  • Health check

Each person gives every indicator a color and a trend, and the team sees where it is doing well and what to improve.

    • Squad Reviews shows no one how each person voted: only how many votes each color got, once the facilitator reveals the results.
    • Ten indicators adapted from the model Spotify published, or a model your company writes.
    • Every closed round stays in the team's history, indicator by indicator.

How it works

Four steps, from your first visit to every sprint's or quarter's conversation.

  1. Sign in.

With Google, Slack or an e-mail sign-in link. The first time, you create your team's company and become its owner.

  2. Invite your team.

Have Squad Reviews e-mail the invitation to each person, or copy an invitation link and pass it on yourself. Whoever accepts becomes a member of the company.

  3. Pick the tool.

In Retro, pick the template and each person's vote limit. In Health check, pick the squad and the indicator model.

  4. Run it live.

The team takes part at the same time, and the facilitator leads the conversation to the action items.

Retro: what is on the board

Columns, votes and action items for remote and hybrid retrospectives. No blank canvas to set up every sprint.

  • Live board

Every card, vote and comment shows up for everyone right away, without reloading the page.

  • Phases and timer

Write, group, vote, discuss. The facilitator moves to the next phase when the team is ready and can run a timer. In each phase, the board allows only what that phase is for.

  • Vote limit

Each person has a set number of votes per retrospective. The server enforces the limit, so reloading the page gives no extra votes.

  • Group cards

Drag a card onto another to bring similar ideas together, and name the group.

  • Anonymous mode

With anonymous mode on, cards and comments show as "Anonymous" to participants.

  • Comments and reactions

Comment on a card or react with 👍 ❤️ 🎉 😂 👀 🚀. Reactions show how many people reacted, never who.

  • Action items with an owner

Close the conversation with what the team will do and who takes care of each item.

  • Squad history

Every retrospective stays in the history of the squad it belongs to. Once closed, it can still be read, and only its action items can still change.

Pricing

Free while we launch

Today every Squad Reviews tool is free, and we don't ask for a credit card. Paid plans may come later. If they do, we will give at least 30 days' notice, and nothing is charged to your company unless an owner expressly signs up for a plan.

Frequently asked questions

How do I sign in?

With a Google account, a Slack account or a sign-in link sent to your e-mail, which lasts 15 minutes and works once. There is no password. The same e-mail is the same account whichever way you sign in.

How does my team join the company?

By invitation. If you are a company owner, you choose how to invite: Squad Reviews e-mails each person an invitation, which lasts 7 days and works once, or you copy an invitation link and send it to your team. The link is valid for 7 days and several people can use it, so treat it like a key: send it only to the people you want to invite.

How much does it cost?

Nothing today: Squad Reviews is free while we launch, and we don't ask for a credit card. Paid plans may come later. If they do, we will give at least 30 days' notice, and nothing is charged unless a company owner expressly signs up for a plan.

Who can see a retrospective?

The people of the squad it belongs to and the company's owners. Anyone who is in no squad belongs to the company's main squad, the one named after the company. Someone from another company cannot open it or tell that it exists. Our team accesses content only when needed to run and protect the service, give support or comply with the law.

Who can see a health check?

The squad's people and the company's owners. No one, not even the facilitator, sees how each person voted: once the results are revealed, Squad Reviews shows how many votes each color got, and only when there are at least three votes. In a small team, the result alone can show how people voted, for example when everyone picks the same color. Our team accesses content only when needed to run and protect the service, give support or comply with the law.

Who runs the retrospective and the health check?

The facilitator. In Retro, that is whoever created the retrospective, or any company owner: they change phases, run the timer, turn anonymous mode on and close the retrospective. The squad's other people write cards, vote within the limit, comment, react and add action items.

In Health check, it is anyone with a leader role in the squad, or any company owner: they run the session, reveal the results and close it. The squad's other people vote on each indicator and take part in the conversation.

Is there a phone app, an export or an integration with other tools?

Not today. Squad Reviews runs in the browser, and Google and Slack are used only to sign in: Squad Reviews neither reads nor posts anything there.
